SOCIAL STUDIES

Social Studies (K–12)

Our Social Studies program uses the Abeka curriculum to provide students with a strong understanding of history, geography, civics, and world cultures through a biblical worldview. Instruction emphasizes God’s sovereignty throughout history while helping students develop critical thinking skills, an appreciation for their heritage, and a responsible understanding of citizenship.

Abeka’s structured, content-rich approach ensures students gain a solid foundation in historical knowledge while learning to evaluate events and ideas through the lens of Scripture. Students are encouraged to understand the past, engage thoughtfully with the present, and prepare responsibly for the future.

Primary School

In the primary grades, Social Studies focuses on building foundational knowledge and curiosity about the world. Students explore family, community, geography, and early American history through engaging lessons, stories, and activities designed to foster understanding and respect for others.

At this level, instruction emphasizes:

  • Basic map and geography skills

  • Introduction to history and community life

  • Respect for authority, laws, and civic responsibility

  • God’s role in creation and human history

Lessons are age-appropriate, engaging, and intentionally designed to help young learners develop a love for learning while understanding their place in God’s world.

Secondary School

At the secondary level, students engage in a deeper and more comprehensive study of world history, U.S. history, civics, and geography. Courses are academically rigorous and designed to prepare students for higher education while strengthening their ability to analyze historical events and societal structures through a biblical perspective.

Students develop:

  • Strong historical knowledge and timeline awareness

  • Critical thinking and discussion skills

  • An understanding of government, economics, and civic responsibility

  • A biblical framework for evaluating cultural and historical movements

Through the Abeka curriculum, secondary students are challenged to think independently, communicate clearly, and apply Christian values to their understanding of the world.

Our Social Studies program equips students with knowledge, discernment, and a biblical understanding of history, preparing them to be informed and faithful citizens.
