LANGUAGE ARTS

Language Arts (K–12)

Our Language Arts program uses the Abeka curriculum to develop strong reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills while fostering a love for literature and clear communication. Instruction emphasizes mastery of language mechanics, thoughtful expression, and comprehension, all within a Christ-centered framework.

Students are encouraged to use language effectively and responsibly, developing skills that support academic success, personal growth, and meaningful communication.

Primary School

In the primary grades, Language Arts instruction focuses on building foundational reading and communication skills. Students develop phonics, vocabulary, handwriting, and early writing abilities through structured, age-appropriate lessons designed to promote confidence and fluency.

At this level, instruction emphasizes:

  • Phonics, decoding, and reading comprehension

  • Vocabulary development and spelling

  • Handwriting and sentence formation

  • Listening skills and oral communication

Students are guided to read with understanding, write clearly, and communicate respectfully, establishing a strong foundation for future learning.

Secondary School

At the secondary level, students engage in a comprehensive study of grammar, composition, literature, and communication. The Abeka curriculum exposes students to classic literature while emphasizing critical reading, analytical thinking, and effective written and oral expression.

Students develop:

  • Advanced grammar and writing skills

  • Literary analysis and critical thinking

  • Clear, organized, and persuasive communication

  • An appreciation for quality literature and strong moral themes

Secondary English courses prepare students for college-level reading and writing while encouraging them to evaluate ideas and texts through a biblical worldview.

Our Language Arts program equips students to communicate clearly, think critically, and engage thoughtfully with the written word.
